Sending love from Australia and passing this around all my friends here, especially our male partners so they can understand how women around the world are feeling right now. Thank you for this great pep talk — we all need it to counter the far right misogyny that is getting ever rampant ❤️

I really don’t know how I got so lucky to have so many cool and supportive readers from Australia. So glad it resonates (but also really really not glad 😢). Thanks Natalie!

Yay, fellow Aussies! *fistbump* @ Natalie:)

That is a very encouraging post.. thank you to Jo-Ann. I like the focus on steps that people can take here and now - best way to fight hopelessness is action!

Joining in sending love from Australia...good people standing together will beat a philosophy based on resentment and fear:)

Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement, Jo-Ann, especially as I continue to process what has happened over the past week. I'm so glad to be in community with you. One question I have is that I've heard a few abortion advocates say that instead of buying up mifepristone, donating to abortion fund is more helpful because they have experience in how to distribute it effectively, including to lower income populations. Thoughts?

That's a good point and makes sense. I'll see if I can get Jessica Valenti's take on it. And yes, so glad we found each other!

Interesting that I saw Jessica recommending the same thing, after this. She is also my holy grail for abortion advice. Very interesting and I still might check in with our local Abortion Fund to see what they're recommending.

Thanks for this article! I just joined NOW as a result. And I joined the NAACP yesterday as well. Good to be involved with groups at the forefront tracking pending legislation votes

Excellent post! The girl in the picture is adorable! I for one have been following Simone Veil and how she worked to make abortion legal in France. If we can emulate aspects of the Veil Act or the actions of Gisele Halimi and Simone de Beauvoir that will be a move forward. We have a problem with White women voting against their own interests. I am a Black woman- are you with me or against me? I am for you as I never vote against my own interests or yours. Never!!
