Congrats Jo-Ann! Can't wait to read your book. I'm so glad you stuck out this long and tiring process to get this in our hands. It truly takes a village and a lot of faith to write a book. Gives me inspiration for sure!

Oh yay! I didn't want it to be terrifying because it is A LOT but it is also super exciting so I didn't want to scare anyone off. :)

Stop Sexual Assault in Schools is eagerly awaiting your book! Your recent article on rough sex was an eye-opening read and so germane to our work at SASH Club.

Jo-ann, what a wonderfully helpful and clear depiction of your book journey. Your timeline is so useful. As someone who sometimes percolates on possible book ideas for the future, this has many great insights. Thank you. And can't wait to read it!

Thank you so much Celeste! The journey got even crazier the day I published this because Butker’s inane speech went viral and suddenly everyone was asking for a comment NOW and I even found myself on live tv with an hour’s notice. 🤪

Hi Jo

Congratulations! I just read your timeline about publishing your book. I think the cover is very eye catching and will make people want to read your book. Best of Luck to you. But no mention of a very supportive husband, I think itis great that you mention parenting and other obligations that publishing a book entails You don't have to include these comments if you would rather not. Love Cynthia

This was so insightful -- thank you. I'm working on my own book in the very very very early stages, and it was inspiring / terrifying to read this. :) Excited for your book!

Thanks Nikki! Simultaneously exciting and terrifying is exactly the right description.

Thanks for your description of this journey. Mine was similar except it took longer to find a publisher, after changing agents. Your cover is beautiful. It is not easy to write a good book, and still the finished product may only be seen by a few. I found the whole process rather defeating, but I am a perfectionist and used to accomplishing things. Writing a book is much harder than many other things I have done.

So much harder than just about anything I've done. Changing agents must have been rough!! Ugh. Your book looks fascinating! It will definitely be devastating if no one sees my book but I also try to remember how much of it is luck, what's happening in the news cycle at the moment of launch, etc. But yeah, gut punch. Thanks for your comment!
